HECHT 6422 is a robust hydraulic wedge splitter powered by a Briggs & Stratton XR950 branded 208cc engine. It is mounted on a chassis with a drawbar for connection to a 50 mm ball hitch. This makes it possible to attach it behind, for example, ATVs, tractors and other vehicles equipped with a suitable towing device. The wheels are fitted with 16″ (4.8 x8) tyres. The maximum speed is 75 km/h. Weight is 246 kg. The splitter is not certified for towing on public roads.

The maximum hydraulic oil pressure is 25 MPa, the hydraulic cylinder exerts a splitting pressure of 22 tons. This is more than enough force to split even the toughest logs. The maximum length of the log is 610 mm. The splitter is fixed with a 20 cm wide splitting wedge. The movement cycle of the wedge is 15 seconds.

The splitter is transported to be used in horizontal splitting takes place in a vertical position. To flip it over, simply release the lock on the chassis and rotate it vertically on the pins. However, it is necessary to ensure that it stands on a level and firm base. Thanks to the hinge located close to the centre of gravity, the tilting between the two positions is easily managed by a moderately fit operator. The machine is equipped with safety controls via a pair of levers. Both levers must be pulled simultaneously to set the wedge in motion. This prevents inexperienced operators from inadvertently placing their hand under the moving wedge.

The hydraulic oil tank (concealed in the chassis frame) holds 14.5 litres of oil.
